Sub-processors

These are the service providers that process personal data on behalf of vies.fyi, with what each one does, the data it receives and where it is located. A new sub-processor is listed on this page before it receives any data.

Sub-processors

  • Hetzner Online GmbH

    Purpose
    Hosting the service and its database, and keeping its backups.
    Data it receives
    All data the service stores: Account and User data, monitored VAT numbers, References, the names and addresses VIES returns, Check history, server logs and backups.
    Location
    Germany (EU). No transfer outside the EU.

  • Stripe Payments Europe, Limited

    Purpose
    Taking payments, running subscriptions and issuing invoices.
    Data it receives
    The Account's billing name, email address, billing address and VAT number, and the card details you enter on Stripe's checkout. No monitored data.
    Location
    Ireland (EU). Onward transfers to Stripe, Inc. in the United States, under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework and the Commission's standard contractual clauses.

  • Brevo (Sendinblue SAS)

    Purpose
    Sending the service's emails: sign-in and security messages, and alerts about monitored numbers.
    Data it receives
    The User's email address and the content of each email, which can include monitored VAT numbers, References and the names VIES returns.
    Location
    France (EU).

Recipients

To check a VAT number, vies.fyi sends it, with your own VAT number as the requester, to VIES, the VAT Information Exchange System run by the European Commission. VIES receives this data as a recipient in its own right, not as our sub-processor, and answers from the member states' VAT registers.
